Navigating the gulf between the most and least prepared students in a course can seem like an insurmountable obstacle, and not because some students are simply more or less capable than others. The course may be a major requirement that some students just don’t care about. Students may work more hours or jobs than their advisers recommend and thus spend too little time on coursework. As the former coordinator for an introductory financial accounting course, I’ve dealt with these obstacles and more. Below are a few general strategies that have worked for me and that you may find of assistance as well.
