Learning and Teaching Post-pandemic: Reflections from a Student and a Professor

In May 2024, Annalise Nisly graduated from Goshen College with an environmental and marine science major with a concentration in marine biology as a member of the “Covid class” of students who had started college during the height of the pandemic. Lamar Nisly has since 1996 served as professor of English at Bluffton University, a span that has also included a 12-year stint in academic administration. In our father-daughter relationship, we have had many conversations reflecting on the challenges college students face in learning during the post-pandemic years. We offer the following reflections from the perspectives of a recent college graduate and a professor recently returned to full-time teaching, not to suggest that we have landed on the perfect solutions but to welcome others into this ongoing conversation about teaching and learning during these post-pandemic years.
